Reflections from Momo

Psalm 28:7  The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him and I am helped; therefore my heart rejoiceth and with my song will I praise him

I bring you greetings from Monrovia in Liberia. In times like these when everything seems to be wrong, there is a reason for us to praise the Lord, He has been our shield and strength our provider in our time of need. As a team in Liberia we are joyful for His unlimited grace and love toward us. This year has been very different and when I look at the work which has been done for the last twelve months despite the circumstances God hands has been in all of it. We give thanks to Him. Frances left the shore of Liberia in March, because of COVID-19 and funding issues she has not been able to come back yet. Her absence has given us the opportunity to demonstrate the skills we have learnt from her teaching and mentoring and she continues to be committed to the team here but we are hoping and praying for her return to Liberia.

Reflections from Momo

Psalm 26: 7 (KJV) that I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving and tell of that wondrous works.

In a time such as this we often think of the problems before us and forget to count our blessings one by one and see what God has done for us. As an organization there many things we need to reflect on and be grateful to our Creator and give Him thanks. Let us look at the shoreline and not focus on the storm we find ourselves in. Let us set our eyes on Jesus who gives us that peace that surpasses all understanding. When I reflect over the last three years ago and see where we have come from and where we are as an organization, God has been with our every step alongside you as prayer intercessors, funders and encouragers and I can only praise the Lord hallelujah. It has not been an easy journey but has been an awesome experience. We started as a team of two persons Frances and myself, now by the grace of God we have seven volunteers, volunteering with their individual skills, talents and time. As Frances continues to mentor and coach the team in Liberia, I can see the transformation in our leadership reflected in our own emotional and mental stability as she encourages us to spiritual maturity. We are praying to continue to fulfill the vision of The Koinonia Trust as we seek to bring healing, hope and beauty from the ashes of people’s lives.

Hello to everyone, it is a blessing to be alive with the opportunity to serve God.

Despite the onset of COVID-19 here in Liberia we have been continuing to work with and alongside the community and our programs at the Koinonia Trust are ongoing.

We have started the study classes, sewing class and have started the youth football program, the program consists of 30 boys. We have also started organising our community choristers.

Supporting Effective Advocacy in Liberia (SEAL) Workshop

Special thanks to Kvinna till Kvinna for the opportunity to facilitate a one day workshop with their 11 CEO’s, under the program, Supporting Effective Advocacy in Liberia (SEAL). Our workshop focused on personal development and building resilience for leaders while working and living in trauma affected communities.

We had 30 participants who attended and the feedback was positive and encouraging.

Wholeness and Personal Development Workshop

In May The Koinonia Trust facilitated an all-day wholeness and personal development workshop for the leaders of the partner organisations of ‘Kvinna till Kvinna‘.

This workshop explored how trauma affects our health and our communities. Together we explored the different aspects of health and the importance of self reflection as a leader. We looked at communication skills and understanding peoples behavior and how best to approach difficult subjects.

The feedback from those who attended was so encouraging…

“I enjoyed everything that was taught and I learned a lot of new things that will help improve my life and people I call my friends”

“Responsible for yourself and your own emotion”
